OK, it's silly question time!
Would there
be any interest in an open packet submission
tournament (i.e. masters style if not quite masters
difficulty) to be held in the UK in the not-too-distant
future? More to the point, who would be able to come? It
would probably be a weekend affair held within
reasonable distance of Heathrow airport (i.e. either at
Oxford or somewhere, maybe a hotel room tournament, in
London). I'm looking at either at early autumn, excuse me,
fall (like, October) or sometime just before
Christmas.
I'm just interested at the moment in gauging whether
those with personal funding (hello Kevin! ;-> )
would be prepared to spend it, and whether college
teams could get funding. Anyone who thinks they might
even be slightly interested, please e-mail me at
robert.linham_at_..., indicating chances of attending at each time, and
any preferences as to format, cost, tournament name,
etc. :-)

PS As I
understand this was the gist of quite a few jokes at the
ICT: we _were_ actually seriously considering putting
in a bid for the 2002 ICT, and it still isn't
entirely ruled out yet :-)
