Midway through my years at Georgetown, I bought a
CD called the Complete Idiot's Guide to Classical
Music and a book called Instant Art History. Much as in
Julie's case, I found some interest in fields that I
never had time to pursue in college . I was likewise
finally motivated to read Dan Boorstin's The Discoverers
and The Creators with an NAQT tournament on the
horizon.
Just to clarify Julie and Brian's comments, I'd just
say that all quiz formats - not just ACF - have the
result of encouraging people to expand their own base of
knowledge.
