FIRST ANNOUNCEMENT

Case Western Reserve
University College Trivia Club invites all undergraduate
teams to compete at the Bachelors Undergraduate Trivia
Tournament, scheduled for Saturday, October 13, 2001; and the
Don King Undergraduate Trivia Tournament, scheduled
for Sunday, October 14, 2001. It is possible we will
start the Don King tournament after the Bachelors
Tournament has concluded, depending on the nature of the
field. The tournament is intended to be held on the CWRU
campus at Cleveland, Ohio.

Rounds consist of 20
tossups and 20 bonus questions for both tournaments, and
we will require each team to submit a packet of at
least 25/25 FOR EACH EVENT. We expect to limit our
field to no more than 18 teams, with any interested
parties above and beyond that number to be placed on a
waiting list.

Entry Fees for
participation

For ONE event:
$75 for the first team (4-6
players)
$50 for each additional team (third or higher teams
will be placed on waiting list)
$15 for each staff
person/volunteer (max 2 per team)
$ 5 for each buzzer system
(max 3 per team)

For BOTH events:
$125 for
the first team (overlap of at least two
players)
$100 for each additional team (third or higher teams
placed on waiting list)
$ 30 for each staff
person/volunteer who works both tournaments (max 2 per team)

10 for each buzzer system (max 3 per
team)

Minimum entry fee: $40 per team

Novice
programs (must have existed for no more than three years)
may petition for a waiver of the $40 penalty, but the
tournament directors have the discretion not to allow such
programs into the field if there are not enough submitted
packets. Teams travelling a significant distance from
Cleveland (greater than 300 miles) may also petition for a
travel discount off the entry fee ONLY IF they intend to
compete at BOTH events.

Canadian programs must
convert their currency to USD but are allowed to take off
30% from the overall charge. However, all teams will
be charged the minimum of $30 USD. British teams
that plan on competing at CWRU for these tournaments
may attend the tournaments for FREE provided their
packets are submitted by September 17; only packet
submission penalties will be applied, and teams will be
expected to pay those surcharges in USD.
