Previously I'd posted that the fee for playing in
the July 7 Mad City Masters without submitting an
original packet was $1000. (Obviously, I wasn't expecting
anyone to pay it; I was saying that you must submit a
packet in order to play.) Now that the Mad City
tournament will also be receiving and using packets from
participants in the UC-Irvine tournament, however, so that I
am now expecting to have a surplus over need, I'll
amend that a bit. I would still prefer to receive
packets from everyone coming, but teams now have the
option of not writing one and playing anyway with entry
fees in that case of $150. The number of teams
choosing to do this, if any, will not, however, be allowed
at Madison to exceed the number of packets I receive
for editing from the UC-Irvine field, so playing
without submitting is not an ironclad guarantee.
