Re: The many potential true quizbowls

Just looking at the number of "similar games"
listed on the left hand side of the homepage of this
clubs seems to be a good starting place for "new"
formats. I know that talking with people about how they
played in high school is also a wellspring of ideas.

For example, I played Varsity Quiz, known in
California (at least) as Kiwanis Bowl. The format was one
round of "typical" QB, then a round that could be
described as all bonuses, where the teams were asked
questions. Finally, a lightning round.

Another kid I
know, who played in Colorado, was under the "buzz when
someone on your team knows it" paradigm. That's right,
you don't buzz for yourself. You assign your best
buzzer jockey to buzz when she thinks someone on her
team knows it. To me, that seems crazy, but fun.

So, here's a proposal. Who would be up for a
"Futuristic Nostalgia Bowl"? We'll play formats from various
high school programs as well as any cool workable new
formats. I think if we get an interest gauge we can work
out a tournament with a Scripps College HQ and
mirrors.
