Massachusetts does
have a state tournament (NAQT IS NOT the only body
which sanctions state tournaments!) as do Vermont and
New Hampshire in New England. If I recall my
conversations from three months ago correctly the Mass.
tournament was held last weekend. That being said I haven't
seen any results yet.
As for the NAQT New
Englands, kudos to Williston Northampton on its victory but
frankly I think the tournament's regional meaning is
quite marginal for several reasons. Of course I'm
biased but the fact that the so called "regional
championship" is scheduled against the octofinals and
quarterfinals of the Vermont state championship (in which the
VT and New Hampshire state champions were playing!)
sort of defeats the purpose of it being a broad-based
regional tournament.
