Artaud Tournament (Official Announcment)

After receiving some interest, I am pleased to
announce the Antonin Artaud Tournament of Cruelty, to be
held (as earlier stated), on Saturday, August 11th
2001 at the University of Michigan.

Format: ACF
- Masters level difficulty (around nationals level,
maybe even a little easier), written by the youthfully
exuberent of Michigan.

There is one significant
change in the tournament. It will actually not be a
normal 4v4, but instead be 2 against 2. The thought was
that a number of people who expressed interest might
not have been able to field whole teams, so this way
we can keep things interesting. If you want to come
play and do not have a partner, we can pair you up
with someone. (There are a number of fine players who
have expressed interest in playing this tournament).
Because it will be 2 on 2, the tossup answers will be
somewhat more accessable than last year's Kleist debacle,
but we can assure you, that the bonuses will be as
challenging as one would like.

In light of people's
enjoyment of this year's catered lunch at NAQT ICT, there
will be chips and salsa provided free of charge by the
tournament directors. Various levels of spiciness will be
represented, from mild to berdichevsky (if youve had his
salsa, you'd understand).

The fee structure will
be as follows:
75 dollars per team of two
-10
per buzzer
-10 for every 100 miles over 200
travelling to get here
-10 for being liked
-10 for
bringing the moderators alcohol
-10 dollars for
homemade salsa
Minimum fee is 40 dollars

To
those of you that emailed me, thank you very much. To
those of you that haven't, I hope you do. For those
that like academic questions, we're hoping that this
tournament will be academic Xanadu (the pleasure
dome).
