Re: Summer reading recommendations?

Just to throw out some of the books I've had on
my nightstand recently, all in the "recommended"
category:

The Evolution of Useful Things, by Henry Petroski -
an examination of the history of items such as
silverware, paper clips, and post-it notes. It does rank high
in the anecdotes/trivia category, but the approach
is along the premise of how designers mold products
with changing demands and purposes.

Cod by Mark
Kurlansky - Western Civ from the Vikings to today, as
influenced by the codfish. An interesting perspective,
particularly if you have any interest in
fishing.

Minding the Store by Stanley Marcus - It's a bit dated,
and I haven't finished it yet, but it's the most
recent addition to my Dallas history list.
