Re: Summer reading recommendations?

(1) Infinite Jest, by DF Wallace. To me, this is
without a doubt the best book of the 1990's. It's long,
and it's disjointed, and it's probably (I have no way
of proving this) the novel with the largest number
of distinct words in it ever written, but it's also
funny as hell, heartwarming and heartwrenching, and I
can almost guarantee you'll want to read it
twice.

(2) Airframe. Even if you enjoy trashy M. Crichton
books, this one is a loser--dull plot, characters you'll
never remember, and no surprises, really. It got me ten
points at TRASHionals, but that's all its
worth.

(3) The last book I read because I _wanted_ to read
it is always the last book I read. Which was, of all
things "What to Expect When You're Expecting." :) A good
book to read, even if you're not the one with the
strechmarks.
