Re: Summer reading recommendations.

Hedonistic summer reading with no redeeming
value: Sue Grafton's Kinsey Millhone
mysteries.

Summer reading that will make you think, though not too
much: "The God of Small Things" by Arundhati
Roy

Summer reading that could make you realize that history
is worth all the questions we write about it:
"Telling the Truth about History" by Joyce Appleby, Lynn
Hunt, and Margaret Jacob and "In Defense of History" by
Richard J. Evans.

Summer reading that some folks
might enjoy, but I most certainly do not: Romance
novels. They scare me. Oh, and Cosmopolitan
magazine.

Last books I read for fun: "Hercule Poirot's
Christmas" (published under various other titles), by Dame
Agatha, "Mr. Wilson's Cabinet of Wonder" by Lawrence
Weschler, and "The Alienist" by Caleb Carr.

Good
luck with your readings, everyone!

Williams
