In distant relation to the recent thread on being
selected for Jeopardy! and such...I'm wondering if other
observers make a game of speculating which players on quiz
shows have "formal" trivia training. For example, Babu
Srinivasan, who had an excellent 5-game streak on J! last
week, came off as knowing the sorts of things that
someone good at academic bowl would know. (Almanac stuff,
history, lit.) He was obviously very much on the ball,
too.
Perhaps no one else finds these mind games as amusing as
I do, but they still seem healthier than many a
conversation at ACF tournaments. Any thoughts on this?
