Re: Martin d. PGA

My question: How would a blind player know that
it was their buzzer that had gotten through?
Wouldn't you have to bring in the CBI recognition rule to
all of those matches? And y'all know how much y'all
love that particular CBI quirk . .
.

If we were dealing with ADA, the fundamental point
is "reasonable accommadation". For those cases in
which a visually impaired player were involved,
recognition would serve as a reasonable
accommadation.

In general, the Recognition Rule was scrapped
because it is unnecessary. If it were made necessary,
because of a visually impaired player, then the rule
would not be objectionable.

As a side
note, I competed on WWTBAM? alongside Erwin Morinaga, a
visually impaired gentleman, and ABC instituted a few rule
modifications in order to maintain ADA compliance. I think
their handling was fair to everyone.
