Re: Summer reading recommendations?

Recommended:

For lunch: _Bat Chain Puller_
by Kurt Loder. All about the personalities of rock
in the late 70's / early 80's.

For
supper:_Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas_, _Fear and Loathing:
On the Campaign Trail '72_, _The Great Shark Hunt_,
_Better than Sex_ and _Generation of Swine_ by Dr. Hunter
S. Thompson.

Mencken + hallucinogenics +
bloody marys = HST.

For dessert, try _Hell's
Angels_, Dr. Gonzo's most "objective" historical
treatise.

For a midnight snack, go for _Glimpses_ by Lewis
Shiner, despite its Stephen King-esque "tie all the loose
ends up in 5 pages because the deadline's tomorrow and
I'm sick of writing this anyhow" ending.

Not
recommended: Danielle Steele. I tried reading one of her books
once. Got through the first chapter. Realized that
rehashing old Victorian cliches was bad enough, but lacking
any substance beneath was utterly intolerable.
