Re: Chicago Open

but....>>

Trying not to sound too defensive here since this was my
own fault:

I apologize for the fact that the
Spencer was abbreviated from the announced length. This
was by and large due to my own overconfidence in my
ability to write 400 questions in a month while working
full time. Continued critiques on this point should be
directed at me, and only me.

I have taken the
following measures to make amends for this, which I hope
will be satisfactory to everyone involved:
--The
mirror sites were released from the negotiated fee for
the questions, and are now expected to name the price
which they feel appropriate
--As soon as I have the
relevant list of email addresses, every player at all
three sites will receive a free electronic copy of the
questions
--I will be writing a full-length singles tournament,
starting now, which I will offer at no charge to all
tournaments held on a weekend to be named later during this
coming academic year
--I will be writing a singles
tournament again next summer, for use sometime in July, to
be completed no later than June 30, with regular
updates on my progress for those concerned.

As for
the distribution thing...I agree that it sucked. I
experimented with tournament-level distribution, and the
experiment failed. Any future tournament I'm involved with
will return to standard packet-by-packet
distribution.
