can come up with a good, fair way to eliminate
single-elim at Penn Bowl, I'm all ears.

As far as
Penn Bowl is concerned, I think the problem is that
there is not enough single-elim.
It should go to a
best of 64 rather than 16. You preserve Penn Bowl's
essential character, and you try to avoid the "unfair"
results with better and more vigorous QA/QC.
