Country Quizbowl, Part III

No more country songs, I promise.

GOODBYE,
KLEIST
("Goodbye, Earl", by The Dixie Chicks)

Maryanne and
Wanda were the best of friends, all through their high
school days,
both members of the quiz bowl club,
travellin' the USA.
After graduation they went out, a
college team them enticed,
Then they went to their
first tourney, and all they found was Kleist.
Well
it was two rounds after they'd started that they
started feelin' abused,
Chicago and Maryland just
kicked their tushies, and their tossup chances were
few.
Well they lost a few more and headed for lunch, got
ACF outta their hair,
But back at the hall a dead
German was waiting, and they wanted outta there.
The
tourney was over, and they started crying, they barely
just made their flight.
They held each other's
hand, they worked out a plan, it didn't take them long
to decide,

That Kleist had to
die....

Goodbye, Kleist
We need some ease, that's fine with me,
Kleist,
We're not weak - we don't need a peep, Kleist,
Ain't
it bad, not being in Ann Arbor, Kleist?

They
had a tourney that was comin' on up, and these two
ladies, well they did know,
That if you're crazy
enough to be running things, you decide what can
go.
Well the tourney came on and all the questions were
normal, and everybody had a ball,
And so it turns out
he was a missing German who nobody missed at
all.
So the gals got a hand for takin' a stand, they
crashed then they dined,
It was liked by Johnny Nam,
and baby, wham! they had just done what's
right.

Cause Kleist had to die...

Goodbye,
Kleist.
We need a break...
We won't give you a fair
shake, Kleist.
Other subjects are bunched, and you're
just bunk, Kleist.
Is that alright? Good! Lets go
for a ride, Kleist. Hey!

Well, hey hey
hey!
Aww hey hey hey!
Well, hey hey hey

ALL
BECAUSE THEY KNEW JUST ENOUGH
("All Because Two People
Fell In Love", by Brad Paisley)

A team is born
in the middle of the night in a crowded dorm
room,
The members go off, get crushed and cry, fail a test
the next afternoon.
Before you know it, they're
taking others to school in their own cool way,
Their
best player is a PhD, and she knows all sorts of
things.
Win a regional prize and touch about ten different
lives,
A few tournaments they all have won,
It's funny
when you think about the reason the team is
alive,
All because they knew just enough.

Right now
at an old building down by College Creek
You'll
find chocolate, Jolt cola and Krispy Kreme.
The
entire qb team is lined up, they've all made this
date,
They know that money from this can make them the best
in their state.

Well Stanely Wilson says that
fifteen months ago he knew,
That the Fightin' Goldfish
were the one;
Now twenty players practice even into
June,
Just to make sure they know enough.

(First
Chorus)
With their knowledge all connected,
They
will never we dejected,
Know all that is, will be,
or ever was,
Every single buzz they
make,
Every trophy that they take,
All because they want
to know enough.

Well, a few years have passed
and what did we just see,
But a little team grow
as feared as can be.
And in a little room right
off of State College Avenue,
With a whole lotta
help from up above,
They played and won it all, it
was overdue,
All because they knew just
enough.

Baby, there ain't nothin' not affected,
With their
knowledge all connected,
They'll know all that is, will
be, or ever was,
I'm glad us our fossil could not
resist,
And for the super freshman's butt we kissed,
All
to make sure we knew enough.

You know to me
it's all so clear,
Our team is simply here
Just
because we wanted to know enough.

A team is born
in the middle of the night in a crowded dorm
room,
The members go off, get crushed and cry, fail a test
the next afternoon...
