Re: Pepper Ann!

I'm not sure how people become valedictorians in
American high schools, but no valedictorian I have ever
known of was anything close to Quiz Bowl material.
Valedictorians in my high school were always the most popular
people...I guess they were the smartest of the popular kids,
but that wasn't saying much...

When I
graduated high school, we even had two valedictorians,
because they appointed themselves. They were like
valedictators :)

Anyway, there were 4 or 5 of us on the
Reach For The Top team, and one got a scholarship to
Harvard. Maybe that's the kind of thing that gets you
valedictorian down there, but even though he was more popular
than the rest of us, he sure wasn't
valedictorian.

I just thought that was odd :) We were all nerds
who didn't really want to associate with the kind of
people who would get to be valedictorian
:)

(There, that's another story about Canada for
you)
