The left has not
held a monopoly on stupidity during all this. Equally
reprehensible was Ann Coulter's assertion that we should invade
Muslim nations, "destroy their leaders, and convert them
to Christianity."
I'm with Joe on this --
not right away, but soon, very soon -- we need to
examine just why the US draws so much ire. Part of this
should be to look at how our attempts to control,
support and/or subvert foreign governments have bitten us
in the asses so frequently. The CIA trained Afghan
rebels against the Soviets -- including what's now the
Taliban and Bin Laden. We propped up Saddam Hussein when
he went to war with Iran. Our problems with Iran
stemmed in part from the fact that we supported the
oppressive Shah for 30 years.
I'm not saying we've
reaped what we sowed. But make no mistake -- We seem to
be fighting a monster that's partially our own
creation. Again.
