Re: Relevant Issues and Concerns Pt. 2

Sometimes people don't know what they are talking
about, so you don't pay attention to them. Moore and
Chomsky don't have much influence. OTOH, Falwell and
Robertson do. That's why they're remarks are more
noteworthy.

We have to make the best out of this horrible
situation, and that means taking a more nuanced and serious
view of what our national policy needs to be. We have
to start thinking a little bit more about the
long-term consequences of our actions.

That means
listening to our allies. That means trying to work with our
competitors. It means that we can't do things half-assed. It
means keeping our eyes open when we align with unsavory
groups abroad. And it means we can't just forget about a
country once we're done fighting there.

It means
that we need to try to put an end to petty bickering
at home and open up serious dialogue. We may have to
shut down some popular pet projects. We might have to
raise taxes or go into debt. We'll have to make some
tough decisions regarding individual liberties and
collective security.

The Army and Navy are on the
same team. The CIA and FBI are on the same team. The
"left" and "right" are on the same team. We need to
remember that. It's not about religion and morality - it's
about having a sensible, realistic national
policy.
