October 6, 2001 I hosted the ISU Novice Tournament on the Iowa State campus in Ames, IA. Congratulations to Illinois DEVGRU for capturing first place honors, and to Brad Houston of Grinnell A for winning top individual honors (and the Jesse Ventura book) with a Points Per Game average of 85. A total of 12 teams attended. Eleven rounds of round robin play were followed by a ranking of the teams. The Mini-Round Robin followed with the top 4 teams playing each other, the middle 4 teams playing each other, and the bottom 4 teams leaving ahead of schedule to get an early start on the drive home. I will finish this post with the final stats for each team (individual stats to be posted separately), but first I would like to thank certain individuals. I would like to thank Tim Meyer (club Vice President) for his excellent job keeping statistics for this tournament. Having been Statmeister myself on a few occasions I truly appreciate a good statkeeper. I would also like to thank Eric Hilleman of Carleton College for his valuable advice during the planning of the event. I would like to thank all the moderators and scorekeepers who helped out and made my job easier by doing their jobs well. Finally, I would like to thank all the players for coming, and also for treating staff and competition alike with respect and courtesy.
