Re: Invoices and Receipts

The ludicrosity of this discussion is incredible,
and I couldn't agree with Dave more.

When a
team runs a tournament, they do it, amongst other
reasons, to make money. In our case at BU, where our
Student Union is slowly cutting funding to some student
groups, tournaments are what let us pay to go to an event
like Penn Bowl or an ICT.

We've made it a point
to ask teams if they need an invoice either before
the event or during check in, and to get them one as
quickly as we can.

All our invoices have my phone
number on them to answer any further questions payees
have. Am I concerned about privacy? No. I'm in the
phone book, and anyone who wanted my phone number could
go pull it out of there simple as can be. It's never
been a problem before, nor do I expect it to be in the
future.

Running an event is a legitimate business transaction
between schools, and as such, it should be treated as
one. If the host wants to get paid, it is their
responsibility to get teams the infomation they need to pay. If
the host doesn't want to get paid, then they can just
not worry about it.
