I wasn't going to give an opinion on any of this stuff, I don't really have the time, but here goes. First, easier questions, Div. II and all that usually leads to greater stompings not less. Look at the top scorers from around the country last week to illustrate that. Get one really good player with Div. II eligibility and you have a massacre. This especially applies with well written easy questions. (I absolutely agree with you Anthony that well-written easy questions should be gotten much earlier by the better player, unfortunately, most easy questions are crappy and begin with something like "This 20th century surrealist Spanish painter". Thankfully, this past weekend was not an example of that phenomenon.) Hard questions give that team with a specialist in Hawaiian history a chance to score some points and keep the margin a little closer. I have a sneaking suspicion that what people really mean by "easier" questions is that they want lots of trash and Americana. 2. At the ACF Southeast tourney last weekend, FSU split up its "A" and "B" squads deliberately in order to fit into the spirit of it being a tournament for people new to the game. We wanted to have two competitive teams that wouldn't steamroll people and be unfair to the new teams. Neither did we treat New College with any sort of disrespect in our matches with them. I doubt anyone else did either. Yes, they were stomped on. They get stomped on at CBI. Either they'll realize they need to read a few books and get better at this game, or they'll quit. Hopefully the former, but that's their problem.
