Re: Linked Qs

<<7. Linked tossups/bonuses. I think this
is such an obvious improvement, I will impose it
whenever I have the opportunity. It greatly improves the
aesthetics of the game, and others should experiment with
it. Clearly how close the TU and Bonus should be
linked is an area for debate, but the concept of linking
is the way G-d intended it. >>

I don't
buy that. I didn't enjoy the linked bonuses a whole
lot, because when a biology tossup came up, I knew
that I'd have the chance of a snowball in hell of
answering the bonus even if somehow I managed to get the
tossup. On the other hand, with a physics tossup, I have
a high confidence of answering both the tossup and
30-ing the bonus. In summary, what the linked bonus does
is frequently give a team lots of points for having
lots of knowledge in one area. To me it seems that you
should reward good all-around knowledge, i.e. getting a
science tossup and then 30-ing a literature or history
bonus. It shows that your team has a breadth of
knowledge.
