Just a question:
Most of the games played at
Deep Bench (and, indeed, at any format I know of that
includes bonuses) weren't singles games. The person who
gets the tossup isn't the only one who can answer the
bonus. I mean, what's the point of having linked tossups
and boni when you have a team? I thought the idea was
to structure your teams so as to cover a wide base
of knowledge, breadth-of-knowledge being part of the
game and all. Whatever.
You know, I was at Deep
Bench, and I didn't particularly mind the linked boni
and the lies (though I'm told that the linked boni
didn't thrill some writers). However, I have to look
askance at proclamations of the evident superiority of
linked questions; same goes for the consideration of the
"lie" as anything but a silly conceit perhaps better
suited to trash.
