Proposal: Trash Intramurals Packet Swap

The University of Michigan is interested in
running a pop culture intramural tournament sometime in
the spring. We considered reusing packets from the
Ann B. Davis or other circuit trash tournaments, but
came to the conclusion that they would be too hard for
intramural use.

I would be willing to edit a trash
intramural set for the spring term provided lots of other
people provide the questions. According to previous
posts on this list, Iowa State, Delaware, and DePauw
would be interested in participating in a packet swap.
We would need about half a dozen more interested
schools submitting packets to produce a set of 10-12
rounds.

Each school participating would have to write one or
two packets and would then receive a full set of
intramural-level trash questions.

DEADLINES:
You would
need to let me know if you intend to write some
questions by December 21, 2001. If there's not enough
interest the plan will be cancelled at that
time.

Packets would need to be received by January 21,
2002.
Questions would be edited and sent out by February 9,
2002.

DISTRIBUTION:
Please follow the distribution listed at
http://www.mikeburger.com/popcultreqs.html

DIFFICULTY:
Easy, EASY, EASY!!!!! I will evaluate difficulty
according to the following standards:

-- any tossup
I cannot answer by the end of the question is
probably too hard
-- any bonus part the Mike Keenan
Employment Agency cannot answer is definitely too
hard

For example, say you want to write about Bloom
County. Good answers would include "Bloom County,"
"Opus," "Bill the Cat," and "Berkeley Breathed." Bad
answers would include "Mary Kay Commandos," "Senator
Bedfellow," "Snorklewacker," "Cheetos," and "Meissner
Effect."

In general, if you think something might be too
hard, write something easier. There's nothing wrong
with teams scoring lots of points.
