Tom Waters

As a follow-up to Eric's post about Tom, Jeff
Bennett reminded me of the fact that at TN Masters '98,
Tom Waters did singlehandedly beat a team of Andrew,
Sheahan, Brian Rostron (also in many people's top 20), and
myself in the round robin. The margin, I believe, was
more than 80, though I can't remember exactly. We did
beat Tom in the final, but still...

While
there's no question Andrew is better than Tom was at
Andrew's age, Tom is definitely (for now anyways) the best
player of all time.

(Tom was playing with a
friend at the tournament, but his friend averaged less
than 10PPG, didn't get any tossups in the matches
against us, and only helped on one part of one bonus in
those 2 games.)

-MZ (who would've had trouble
playing for the old, control-freak Doug Collins, but is
not sure if Doug Collins is even doing any coaching
at all these days.)
