TrashMasters 2001: gratitude

For any tournament to come to pass, there have to
be a lot of people working mighty hard. So we owe
thanks to the people who made TrashMasters 2001
possible. First and foremost is UTC's own stats goddess,
Dorothy Morisch, for her usual stellar job of keeping up
with everything. The reader corps mutated over the
course of the weekend, with several people only able to
help part of the time. Thanks go to Kevin Olmstead,
Alexis Mansfield, Eileen Steinhice, Peg Brawner, Dave
Leach, Shannon Moore, Travis Buck, Toby Walter, Scotti
Whitmire, Markus Iturriaga, Ruth Jackson, Chris Pae, Peter
C., and Victoria Rubin. Thanks also to the many
players who pitched in to help on their bye rounds. Peg,
Eileen, Shannon, and Vera Lawson helped with collating
packets, preparing prizes, and other logistics, and Wally
Edmondson spearheaded the buzzer setup crew.

The
questions for TrashMasters 2001 were greatly enhanced by
contributions of these writers who could not attend but sent me
blind rounds and other material: Ben Lea, Matt Larson,
Sean Phillips, Josh Allen, Stan Jastrzebski, James
Washick, Miguel Ruiz, Nathan Crane, Jason Zuffranieri, and
Stephen Taylor.

Thanks also to John Miles of
Provino's for waiting for us and keeping the kitchen open,
and for not throwing us out when we were still
contemplating dessert over an hour after closing
time.

Speaking personally, I enjoyed TrashMasters 2001 perhaps
more than any tournament I've run in the past, and
that's saying a lot. Thanks to all who participated for
indulging me.

Same time next year, then?
