Rice U. High School Tournament Update

Though it's still a long ways off, here are a
number of changes that are being made to Rice's upcoming
high school tournament next semester.

1) Due to
the large number of conflicts that our tournament
date has with other Texas high school academic
competitions, we've decided to push our tournament back to what
(hopefully) will be a more accomodating date. The new date of
the tournament is <<April 13th>>.

2) We've officially registered with NAQT . As a
result, we're now on their website

(<a href=http://www.naqt.com/schedule.asp target=new>http://www.naqt.com/schedule.asp</a>) as an official NAQT sanctioned tournament, making
competing teams eligible to compete for spots at the
national high school tournament in Austin.

3)
Because the format of the tournament will depend on the
total number of registered teams, we'd like to have
everyone registered as soon as possible. This will make
things alot easier on the tournament organizers, who,
after all, are busy with classes and homework
assignments of their own. The official deadline for turning
in forms and sending in money will be pushed

back to <<April 1st>>. However, the sooner
you can send in all the paperwork, the more hugs and
kisses you will get from us. Also, in the event 
that
too many teams register, those who registered early
will get preference for playing.

4) All other
information, including entrance fees, remains the same. We are
in the final stages of reserving rooms from the
university for this event. I should have more specifics by
the time spring semester starts on January
14th.

5) For those of you who do not have or have lost the
old forms I've e-mailed you, e-mail me to let me know
you need a new one. Old forms will still be
considered valid with the understanding that all the new
updates apply.

Feel free to disseminate this
information to any teams you think may be interested. So far,
it looks like we're going to have great
tournament.
