This would be true if the editor(s) of a tournament
was(were) omniscient beings. Since for the majority of
events this isn't true, we make due...non-single-elim
formats in use make the field happier, cancel out the
effects of imperfect staff, and also give us a reason to
learn weird number-theory things like Room's
Squares.
