out of context or a straight-up dis?

Never seen CSI, but I think I'm less inclined to
pick it up now. From the NY Post:

January 10,
2002 -- Millionaire'
contestants dumb': Petersen

 <<"C.S.I." star William Petersen isn't
mincing any words about his feelings for ABC's "Who Wants
to Be a Millionaire" - calling the show's
contestants "dumb people."
 Petersen tells this weekend's
edition of USA Weekend magazine that people are tuning
into "C.S.I." because they're tired of "watching dumb
people think for an hour" on "Millionaire," which airs
opposite "C.S.I." "Our audience gets to watch smart people
think," he says. >>

Hmm... first of all,
CSI viewers don't get to watch smart people think;
they get to watch people of undetermined intellect
PRETENDING TO BE smart people thinking.

If he's
talking about WWTBAM this season, which has been
dominated by stunt and celebrity tournaments, then he has a
point. If he's commenting on the show's "civilian"
contenstants, then he's a pinhead.
