The Carnegie Mellon University College Bowl club is pleased to announce the return of its annual high school tournament, the Tartan Invitational. This academic quiz-style tournament will take place at the Carnegie Mellon campus on Saturday, March 2, 2002. Tournament director for this year's Tartan Invitational will be Eric Steinhauser, formerly of the University of Pittsburgh, and creator of both "Battle of the 'Burgh" and "Supernatural Ice Bowl." Questions will be supplied by National Academic Quiz Tournaments (NAQT), and will be part of NAQT's "Nationwide Tournament Day." The winner of the event will automatically qualify for NAQT's High School Championship in June at the University of Texas. All teams are guaranteed at least nine games. Schools may reserve two team slots now and put additional teams on a waiting list.
