NAQT v. The Arts (was: distribution)

While the NAQT Sectionals was reasonable in many
regards, the lack of decent arts questions or, in at least
one packet, anything resembling an arts question was
very disconcerting. I will restrain myself from
yelping bloody murder when I hear pop music questions
instead of classical, but I cannot abide it when multiple
arts are underrepresented.

This was especially
noticeable to me, as I had attended JCV 8 the week before
Sectionals and Penn Bowl the week before that; it's possible
that I reacted negatively because those other
tournaments had a good deal of arts. But when I hear music
theory questions with answers like "Eb" and
"tritone"...some people might find this "creative"; most people I
spoke to agreed that a better word for them would be
"weak."
