After two full years on the circuit (or somewhere close to it), I would think that *most* players would have studied and practiced enough to move up." I think this is incorrect. My guess is that the vast majority of QB players are not interested in actively improving their games. Most people just play for fun and are not necessarily competitive. They practice when they can and attend the occasional tournament, but don't write questions daily with aspirations towards ACF beasthood or whatever. While you and I might prefer stiffer competition and tougher questions, I think most people are content playing at a D2-like level where they can score more points and feel better about having played the game. We should keep in mind that NAQT is making an attempt to reach all competitive levels of the QB community. I think the idea of even having a separate field for D2 is counterproductive to the development of young players, but most people don't want to develop anyway. I find NAQT's efforts in this area admirable, as they maintain a forum for both the extremely competitive and the less-concerned majority. One final thought on this: issues like formats, eligibility, schedules, etc. become irrelevant when you win all your games. Score points or die. Speaking of NAQT, I thought this year's SCT was the best ever. There were still some bad questions, and I'll never embrace the concept of trash/current events as a part of QB, but it's good to know there's a continuing upward trend in quality. Keep up the good work. R. Bhan
