First off, I want to thank everyone who made TRASHionals 2002 a rousing success! From the 36 teams attending to the hosts at the University of Michigan to my fellow pop-culture scribes at TRASH, the tourney could not have been a success without you! A few things left out from the stats... -- For the second year in a row, Boston U. (Funk Dancing as Self- Defense) took home the TRASH Undergrad crown, winning a ceramic Smurf for their troubles. Funk Dancing's Erik Nielsen won the undergrad scoring title, finishing (I believe) seventh overall. -- The five teams that won the non-Curly playoff brackets on Sunday took home Backstreet Boys videos. We had 25 of these videos, so EVERY PLAYER got one :P -- Remember that announcement about a "Mystery Team?" Well, the Mystery Team was unable to attend, but I can say that said team was the folks at Comedy Central's Beat the Geeks. As a consolation, the show's TV Geek, Paul Goebel, donated a question and a prize to TRASHionals! The question was an audio bonus requiring players to identify a TV theme song, as sung by Mr. Goebel! The prize, decreed by the King of TV to be given to the "best player named James," was an autographed copy of his CD, consisting of Mr. Goebel singing 15 classic TV themes. Congrats to James from Rutgers who won the CD. Again, thanks to all for making TRASHionals 2002 a success! James Dinan Business Manager, TRASH jdinan_at_...
