Chicago SCAB results

Congratulations to Kelly McKenzie, who on Sunday won the Chicago
mirror of the SCAB singles tournament. If I'm not mistaken, Kelly
has now won three consecutive Chicago-based singles tournaments
(including last summer's post-Chicago Open event and the
Heller/Litvak singles following ACF Regionals); for his efforts, he
chose a boring-looking reference book on world literature. Raj
Dhuwalia, who placed second in the tournament, chose a much more
exciting Sigmund Freud action figure as his prize.

Special thanks to everyone who helped out: Susan Ferrari (who helped
with planning, printing, and moderating); Mike Altman (who moderated
and helped with the logistics of double-elim); Amanda Butler, Kathy
Moriarty, and Mike Sorice (who helped moderate); all the players who
moderated matches following their elimination; Eric Hillemann, who
provided advice on the format; and, of course, Anthony de Jesus and
company, who provided the questions.

Following are the final standings from the tournament. 23 players
took part, and the top 16 competed in a double elimination bracket
following three seeding rounds. I'll apologize in advance for the
results below: I've probably spelled several names wrong, and I may
have confused the results for a couple people with the same first
name. But I'm confident that these results are mostly accurate.
