Tiebreaker games are extra games used to resolve ties in the standings at a tournament.

If two teams are tied, a single game or "half game" is typically played. For situations involving more than two teams, multiple games or fractional games are necessary. NAQT has prepared schemes for resolving ties involving up to eight teams.

It is not always necessary to break a tie. Ties may be broken for advancement into playoffs or finals, to give out trophies that have been ordered in advance, or simply if the tournament director prefers to have a complete, unique ranking of the teams.
