Kevin Keegan

Kevin Keegan was the longtime coach at Rockville and has since moved to James Hubert Blake. He was the coach of 15 Maryland Panasonic teams, and his teams finished in the top three in the PAC 12 times, with national championships in 1988, 1992, 1996, 1998, 2000, and 2002. Mike Kravitz of Mongomery Blair co-coached the Maryland team with Keeagn from 1992 through 2004, and continued coaching the team through 2007 with Joseph Caulfield of James Hubert Blake and Mark Whipple of Walter Johnson.

While at Rockville, his teams won six national all-divison Knowledge Master Open titles (Spring 1984, Spring 1985, Fall 1985, Spring 1986, Spring 1987, and Spring 1988.) He also coached the second-place team at the 1999 NSC with Linda Mencarini.

Keegan runs the Quizmaster Challenge television show--a public-access program for Montgomery County, Maryland, schools--which began in 1988. During the 1990s, Keegan told people he kept a $20 bill to give to anyone who came up to him in a mall and said that he/she had seen the show; he still has the $20 in his wallet. Keegan also hosts a preseason off-camera tournament each Fall and a Freshman/Sophomore tournament in the Spring.

In 2003, Keegan successfully campaigned to have the PSAT rescore 1.8 million tests after he (incorrectly) convinced the College Board that a Writing Section question on the October 2002 PSAT had 2 possible answers.(New York Times article). For other opinions, see this.
