In 2003, Thomas Jefferson won the NAQT HSNCT and finished second at the PACE NSC. They defeated Dorman in the finals at HSNCT and lost to them at the finals of the NSC; this was the first of two straight years that the same two teams made the finals of both tournaments, and the first of two straight years that TJ defeated their opponent at NAQT but lost at PACE.

Thomas Jefferson would go on to win the next two NAQT HSNCTs. Their PACE NSC team in this year consisted of Sam Lederer, Jacob Oppenheim, S.R. Sidarth, and Steve Young, while their NAQT HSNCT team also included Will Sullivan.

The 2003 tournament saw the beginning of Thomas Jefferson's unbreakable 40-game winning streak at the HSNCT, encompassing all their games between a loss in the 2003 prelims to Dunbar and a loss in the 2006 prelims to Wilmington Charter B.
