Their scholar bowl team has come into popularity in their 2019-2020 season, having won the IHSSBCA (Illinois High School Scholastic Bowl Coaches' Association) Kickoff Tournament, having gone 11-0, while twice beating their chief rivals of the Metro East Quad League,Carbondale Community High School. Their current main varsity players are Kieran Favazza (Science, Social Science, Philosophy), Ethan Plate (Literature, Fine Arts), Thomas Gehrig (History), Billy Yinger (mythology, religion, geography), and Olivia Gehrig.
