Blue Valley High School is a public high school in southern Overland Park, Kansas. The school has had recent success in KSHSAA competition, winning state championships in 2011-2014.

KSHSAA Naming

Since KSHSAA refers to schools by "City-School Name" when the school name doesn't match the name of the city in which it is located, starting in the 2013-2014 season, the school appears in KSHSAA records as "Overland Park-Blue Valley", while records prior to that season refer to the school as "Stilwell-Blue Valley". This appears to be because the school is in the Stilwell zip code and was located in unincorporated Johnson County prior to the city of Overland Park annexing the school in September 2013 [1].

This school should not be confused with:

  • Blue Valley High School in Randolph, KS.
  • Blue Valley Middle School, which feeds into Blue Valley High School. Confusingly, unlike the high school, despite being built within the Overland Park city limits in the late 1990s, the middle school still appears in the KSHSAA school directory as "Stilwell-Blue Valley".
  • Other directionally-named high schools in the Blue Valley School District.
