Burlington High School is a public school of about 1,200 students in Burlington, Vt. Its academic team competes in the Vermont-NEA Scholars' Bowl and other Vermont and regional competitions.

State tournament

Burlington's four Vermont Scholars' Bowl championships leave it second behind Hanover for the most by any Vermont school. The Seahorses advanced to the state semifinals in six consecutive seasons from 1997-2002 and won the title in 1999, 2000 and 2001, making it the only Vermont school to win back-to-back-to-back championships. BHS also won the Medlar Cup, the Vermont Scholars' Bowl's second-tier playoffs, in 2007.

National tournaments

Burlington made its national-tournament debut in 1997 and became the first Vermont school to reach the semifinal round at the Panasonic Academic Challenge. Burlington's state championship teams of 1999, 2000 and 2001 also competed at Panasonic, with the 2000 team reaching the semifinals and the 2001 squad finishing fourth overall for the best finish by a Vermont school at a national tournament.

Burlington also competed in the 2000 NSC, going 4-6. Andrew Malcovsky made the all-star team at the tournament, making him one of five Vermont players who have earned all-star status at the national level.
