Carterville High School is a small public school in Carterville, Illinois located in southern Illinois near Carbondale. It competes in Class AA, the "large school" division, of the Illinois High School Association's State Championship series. The Lions also compete in the Southern Illinois River-to-River Conference & have been participants on WSIU's Hi-Q.
The team was founded by IHSSBCA Hall of Fame member, Brenda Bratcher, in 1981. Bratcher coached them for over 20 years ending in 2003.
