A Walnut Hills Beast Frosh, he was a very good player as a freshman and sophomore. Along with Max Bucher, Rachel Horn, and Peter Komarek, he formed the first place team at the 2009 NAQT Ohio State Tournament and the 17th place team at the 2009 NAQT HSNCT. He received the Sophomore All-Star award at the 2009 HSNCT as he was ranked fourth among sophomores nationally.
