Richland is the dominant small school in Missouri quizbowl, having won the Class 2 title 13 of the 14 times the MSHSAA state competition has been held. They have also won the small-school title at both NAQT Missouri Qualifier tournaments held to date.
At the 2009 MSHSAA State Championship, Richland defeated St. Paul Lutheran 280-275 to win its thirteenth Class 2 title.
