VHSL Region 2D

VHSL Region 2D is part of VHSL Class 2 (formerly known as 2A), consisting of schools with more than 475 students but less than 735 students. Lying in the Southwest Virginia panhandle, it contains the Mountain 7 District and the Southwest District.
Region 2D (along with Region 1D) is essentially half of the former VHSL Group A Region D, which from 1998-2013 included schools that are now in VHSL's Class 1 and 2 (known as 1A and 2A respectively from 2014-2017). Region 2D is also roughly half of the former VHSL Region 2A-West. The only exception to this is the addition of Abingdon to the Mountain 7 District; Abingdon is currently classified as a Class 3 school, and was a former member of the VHSL Group AA's Region IV.
