Spotswood High School is a public high school located in Penn Laird, Virginia, part of the greater Harrisonburg metro area, directly adjacent to the Massanutten mountain and ski resort. The team currently participates in VHSL Scholastic Bowl. In the past, they have competed on at least three different TV tournaments - Battle of the Brains, the "Central Virginia" division of It's Academic, and the western Virginia-based Pop Quiz.

Spotswood was an extremely active team at invitational tournaments in the 1990s and 2000s under coach Marian Suter, who went on to be a writer and organizer for VHSL Scholastic Bowl after retiring from coaching in 2005. Spotswood finished in the top 4 three consecutive times at the ASCN nationals from 2003 to 2005 and was the state runner-up in the AA division of Scholastic Bowl in 2003 and 2005. From 2001 to 2003 the team accumulated a 96-0 record in their VHSL regular season league.

Spotswood hosted two coach-written high school tournaments known as "ACT I" and "ACT II" in the fall and spring semester, from 1991 through 2006.
