Re: Wait a minute . . .

"My question is pretty
simple, and yet confuses me -- why the hell did CBCI
establish two separate circuits in the first
place?"

HCASC was created when American Honda, operating
through its agents Muse, Cordero, and Chen, approached
CBCI with the idea prior to the 1989-90 season. Soon
CBCI, ACU-I, American Honda, Muse, Cordero, & Chen, and
NAFEO were involved as partners in its creation. When
the program was discussed at the regional ACU-I
meetings in 1990, it was clear that it was the hope of at
least some within ACU-I, and I suspect in CBCI as well,
that HCASC would ultimately lead to a merging of the
two tracks and the glorious return of College Bowl to
T.V. I don't think that anyone involved at any level
of HCASC at the time fully understood that HCASC
would soon create its own dynamic and develop the way
it has.

In interviewing people involved in
the early creation process of HCASC, I've been told
point blank that CBCI didn't originate the idea. Honda,
through its agents, approached them. Any statement that
CBCI initiated the program to further its own
interests is, I believe, simply not true.
