Esteemed fellow quiz bowlers,

The Penn Academic
Demolition Team is pleased to announce:

PennBowl:
Revolution Nein!

a timed, 64 team tournament, open to
all quiz bowl programs, to be held at the University
of Pennsylvania on Friday and Saturday January,
21-22, 2000. [Note this is not the usual
weekend.]

II Registration

Registration starts right
now. Each school may register three teams and place a
fourth team on the waiting list. The tournament is
currently slated for 64 teams, but may increase to 68 if
there is interest, and it is logistically possible.
Visit our online registration site
at
<a href=http://www.pennbowl.org/teams1.html target=new>http://www.pennbowl.org/teams1.html</a> to sign up.

III Questions

As every
year at PennBowl, the players will be writing the
questions. However, ONLY A and B TEAMS ARE REQUIRED TO
SUBMIT PACKETS, and, as mentioned above, the
distribution is very much changed from previous years. Also
the deadline for packs is 23:59:59 November 30, 1999.
The PennBowl staff needs time to edit all the packs
we will be receiving, so please cooperate with us on
this point. For complete details see
<a href=http://www.pennbowl.org/info.html. target=new>http://www.pennbowl.org/info.html.</a>

V Logistics

Running a
tournament the size of PennBowl takes a lot of people and
equipment. It is our goal this year to have a working
buzzer, clock, moderator, and scorekeeper in each room.
However, we need your help on this account, so please
register as many buzzers, officials, and (especially)
clocks as you can.

VI Lodging

As always,
we here at PennBowl will be reserving a certain
number of rooms at the University City Sheraton, but
there are a variety of options in the city. For more
info, visit <a href=http://www.pennbowl.org/things.html target=new>http://www.pennbowl.org/things.html</a> after
November 15.

VII Conclusion

The Penn
Academic Demolition Team is dedicated to running not just
the largest, but the best invitational quiz bowl
tournament in the nation, but we cannot do it alone. We
guarantee well-edited questions, provided we receive from
YOU questions that follow our guidelines to a
reasonable degree. We shall mobilize all our resources, but
we will still need buzzer systems, clocks, and game
officials. In short, the success of the tournament depends
as much on the participants as on the staff, so
please bear this in mind. Also, we are always open to
suggestions for ways to make our tournament more fun, or run
more efficiently, so please feel free to email TD
Chris Rooney at director_at_..., or call (215)
417-7784.

I look forward to seeing you all on the circuit
this fall, and in Philadelphia this
January.

yours
Chris Rooney
Director, PennBowl 9
