Re: The (K)Nobel Nostradamas

(I sent this to qb-chat, but it got lost in
cyberspace...)

Has anyone gotten anything from qb-chat in a while?
I've sent one or two messages and never received them.
Is it dead?

Peace: I'll get very close to
betting the farm on either India/Pakistan leaders for
nuclear considerations or Israeli/PNA/Syria/Jordanian
leaders for recent peace efforts. A posthumous prize to
King Hussein isn't entirely out of the question. The
Rwanda situation has fizzled out thanks to a large
number of factors, and there hasn't been one overriding
person who could deserve the award. Kosovo also lacked
any mythic figure who deserves a win.

The
other possibility are a few Nigerian activists (thanks
to Nigerian elections), although I doubt that the
committee would recognize the original rulers who permitted
them (a la De Klerk). The committee could also choose
some organization (the OAU) or an NGO working for a
specific cause (Amnesty International or Greenpeace). If
they want to tick off a lot of people and cause social
change, a good choice might be Indonesian opposition
leader Megawati Sukarnopotri.
