Re: Sunshine State Invitational- Results

Howdy--

First, forgive me if this message comes up twice; this seems to
happen on my posts, and I'm not techwise enough to know why.

Anyway, much thanks to Kevin Comer and the rest of the UF folks who
ran the SSI. Kevin and Raj Dhuwalia wrote the lion's share of
questions (if not all) I believe, and they are to be applauded for
writing tosses that early on challenged the more-experienced players
but which tapered nicely to be accessible to the many Division II
teams. The questions had power marks, and the placement of a
handful of those might have been a bit on the easy side compared to
many invitationals these days, but it was nice to see a tournament
willing to err on the side of accessibility. I encourage teams with
newer players to try to get the question sets, as they should
provide good practice material.

I do think, however, that this was the first tournament I've
attended, two- or four-year level, at which I heard no toss-ups or
bonus parts about Faulkner or Joyce; of course, I might be
forgetting something. Not a criticism--I was just surprised.

Again, my thanks to the Gators for providing a good game experience
for me and the Valencia teams.
